The largest collection of stilettos, big hair and attitude to be seen in a while descended on Sydney last night (Monday Aug 20) when the city's drag queens held their annual awards bash. 

The Drag Industry Variety Awards this year drew a sell out crowd of more than 600 from Sydney's male impersonating industry. With the main room of the Metro entertainment complex showcasing a colourful concentration of frocks and accessories that must have taken a total of hundreds of hours to fit on its wearers, it came as no surprise that the night's major gong winner was named after an international style and fashion magazine -- just spelt differently. 

Taking out this year's Mardi Gras-sponsored Entertainer of the Year Award was the drag scene's bombshell, six foot-plus pin-up girl, VANITY FAIRE.
