Boy George has told how he feared for his life when
he was abused by homophobic youths at a concert in London.
The DJ said he feared he was going to be killed when hundreds of chanting people surrounded his car outside the Missy Elliot gig in Brixton, south London. Boy George revealed details of the incident while discussing his attitudes towards rapper Eminem, who has been criticised for his "homophobic" lyrics. In an interview with Q magazine, the 40-year-old star said: "I went to see Missy Elliot in Brixton and if the police hadn't been there I would've been killed. "I've never been so scared in all the time I've lived in London." He criticised Eminem for not doing more to change the attitudes of young rap fans towards the gay community. "As the rap community is really homophobic it would be really good if Eminem were to say something different. "People say he should have the right to say what he wants. But I don't think he should - at least he shouldn't be celebrated for it." |
