Carol said that JOY has presented a strong case in its formal application to the ABA and that the gay and lesbian community of Melbourne needs and supports its own community based radio station.

Carol also called on the community to further demonstrate its support.  Carol said, "Membership, is a key way we can show the ABA that we have the communities support.  Membership demonstrates an individual's commitment to JOY and support for a full time licence".

In the lead up to the public hearings, JOY will continue to broadcast on 90.7FM four days a week, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday through to the 28th of August 2001.
