Profile of a church bully - George Pell
an article from antichrist.com.au

"A 'bully bishop from central casting' is how one priest once described the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne, the Most Reverend George Pell. 'He is a memory of all those silly stereotypes of authority that used to haunt us as children.'"
- Chris McGillion, Sydney Morning Herald (27 March 2001)

27 March saw the promotion of Melbourne Catholic Archbishop George Pell to head the Sydney diocese in what many liberal Catholics regard as a disaster for the church.

Former human rights commissioner Chris Sidoti, a Catholic, said the appointment would wind the church back to the Middle Ages and drive priests away.

Victorian Secretary of Independent Education Union Tony Keenan said of the appointment: "Sydney's gain is Melbourne's gain".

So what have Sydney Catholics got themselves into by appointing their new bishop, who is now  has dug up the dirt on the man set to become Australia's most powerful Catholic leader ...
