Gay Prince Edward - denial

Countess SOPHIE of Wessex, the daughter-in-law of Britain's Queen ELIZABETH, has denied her husband Prince EDWARD might be gay.

In a rare interview with the News of the World tabloid, she talked of her desire to have children, saying she'd consider in-vitro fertilisation if necessary.

But the Mail on Sunday claims she also insulted senior politicians, including Prime Minister TONY BLAIR, and members of the royal family, including the Queen.

The Mail on Sunday story sparked a furious rebuttal from Buckingham Palace, that said it was riddled with inaccuracies and fictions.

SOPHIE married EDWARD, the Queen's youngest son, in 1999. Both have their own careers, hers in public relations and his in theatre and television. She says rumours about her husband's sexuality may have stemmed from the fact he works in theatre.
